I hope this article helps anyone who is struggling to sleep. Here are my two secrets to getting a good night’s sleep.
1. Stay Active Throughout the Day
Here’s what my typical day looks like:
Have breakfast with my two boys, aged 13 and 14, before they head off to school.
Do housework and other chores.
Check Zoom for any meetings and prepare for them.
Eat lunch.
Take a walk in the afternoon. Don’t forget to enjoy the sky and the weather!
Work and attend meetings.
Prepare dinner for my husband and kids.
Eat dinner together as a family and talk about our day.
Do the dishes and finish up any leftover tasks.
Meditate for 1 hour.
Go to bed.
2. Meditate to Let Go of Stress, Worries, and Anxiety
I used to worry about things like:
What if my husband, the only one earning money, passes away?
Will I be able to take care of my son, who has ADHD and intellectual disabilities, as I get older?
What if something happens to me?
What is my value in a world that’s always changing?
What if our house gets flooded due to climate change?
Why am I here in this world, and what’s the purpose of my life?
These thoughts kept me awake at night. But when I started meditating in September 2017, I found answers to these questions. Through meditation, my negative thoughts—like worries, anxiety, and self-doubt—started to disappear. Slowly, I discovered my true self, which had always been inside me. And guess what? The same is true for you.
You can live well in this world and find happiness that isn’t based on material things. I hope everyone has a great 2022, and I’ll be praying that you sleep well too!
